“WARM-LIGHT COOL-LIGHT”
Warm-Light Cool-Light features Ruth Pastine’s pastel works on paper, which expand upon the artist’s polychromatic color systems within the perfect geometry of the square. Pastine engages heightened chromatic transitions with the introduction of the “edge,” common to hard edge abstraction, within her atmospheric color field explorations. Focused on the phenomena of color perception and color relativity, the edge is further explored through the materiality of the pastel medium, which paradoxically affords ethereal investigations of light and spatial interplay within the visual field.
