United Airlines Polaris Lounge
United Airlines acquires Los Angeles-based artist Ruth Pastine’s Diamond, Blue Light Series and Circle, Blue Light Series completed in 2018 and installed in the corporate collection for the opening of United Airlines Polaris Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport in January 2019.
Ruth Pastine is known for her minimal color field paintings investigating phenomena of color perception and the relativity of color, light and space. For these two works Pastine contextualizes the interplay of luminous abstract fields with definable geometric forms of the diamond and circle composed with nuanced color relationships, exploring the tangible with the intangible, an ever-present exchange and dialogue between presence and absence, matter and light, materiality and immateriality, the finite and the limitless.
