LIMITLESS

Limitless features Ruth Pastine’s square and vertical paintings from the artist’s Red Green Series. Pastine advances her minimalist color-field work through rigorous formal systems composed with nuanced admixtures of opposing complementary hues in optically seamless gradients. Challenging our preconceptions, Pastine investigates the immateriality of matter, the subtle character and nuance of color, and the ethereality of light. Pastine reveals a sensual surface in dialogue with a visually dematerialized experience, further questioning the perceptual experience and redefines the visual field. Pastine’s Limitless exhibition inaugurated Edward Cella Art & Architecture in Los Angeles on Miracle Mile in September 2015. The exhibition is accompanied by a brochure essay by Donald Kuspit, honorary art critic, author, historian, and Distinguished Professor Emeritus of art history and philosophy.
