Brian Gross Fine Art is pleased to announce that Ruth Pastine’s painting, Witness 5-V9048 (Blue Orange Light), 2016, has been acquired by SFMOMA. Witness 5 will be featured as part of the exhibition, Between Two Worlds: Art of California, that will be on view from August 5, 2017 through March 4, 2018, in the museum’s newly dedicated California galleries.

Curated by Gary Garrels, Senior Curator of Painting and Sculpture; Janet Bishop, Curator of Painting and Sculpture; and Nancy Lim, Assistant Curator of Painting and Sculpture; Between Two Worlds: Art of California will focus on works by Bay Area and Los Angeles artists active from the 1960s through the present. Pastine’s painting will be included in a section entitled “Light, Space, and Quality Air” along with works by Larry Bell, Don Dudley, John McCracken, Mary Weatherford, James Welling and Norman Zammitt.

Ruth Pastine’s paintings have been exhibited throughout the United States and abroad. Witness 5 was most recently exhibited in her solo exhibition at Brian Gross Fine Art, Ruth Pastine: Witness earlier this year. Her works can be found in numerous public and private collections, including the Achenbach Foundation, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; SFMOMA San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; MCASD Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego; Ernst & Young Plaza, Los Angeles; MOAH Museum of Art and History; and the Frederick R.
