Blue Light, Tarsadia Investments

Ruth Pastine’s Blue Light, 2017 was commissioned by Tarsadia Investments for their permanent headquarters and features Blue Light #1 (Square) and Blue Light #2 (Vertical). The installation presents Pastine’s luminous hand painted color field paintings from her ongoing Blue Series, and explores the perception of color, light, and space through contrasting geometric structures of the square and the rectangle.

Pastine’s work explores relationships between materiality and immateriality and presence and absence through subtle gradations of primary color systems. With the introduction of deeply beveled canvases that liberate the painted surface from traditional supports, her current iteration of painting brings the work into the realm of light and space and investigates the dialogue between object, presence, and phenomena.
