Ruth Pastine in Residence at the Carolyn Glasoe Bailey Foundation

Carolyn Glasoe Bailey Foundation is pleased to announce the organization’s inaugural exhibition project Ruth Pastine in Residence, curated by Frederick Janka, Executive Director. Currently located in downtown Ojai, California, the Carolyn Glasoe Bailey Foundation will present an intimate experience for visitors to view a single minimalist color field painting by Ruth Pastine titled Blue Orange 1-S4848 (Blue Deep), Interplay Series, 2013. Also on view will be a selection of the artist’s most recent works on paper created during her residency.

Ruth Pastine received her B.F.A. from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, New York City, and upon graduating was awarded an independent residency grant to the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She received her M.F.A. from Hunter College of the City University of New York. In 2014, Ruth Pastine had her first museum survey exhibition entitled: Attraction: 1993-2013 at MOAH Museum of Art and History Lancaster with exhibition catalog essays by Donald Kuspit and Peter Frank. In 2015, she opened Present Tense: Paintings and Pastel Works on Paper 2010-2015 at the CAM Carnegie Art Museum, Oxnard. Pastine’s works are included in the permanent collections of SFMOMA San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (recently exhibited in Between Two Worlds, Art of California); MCASD Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego; Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; MOAH Museum of Art and History Lancaster; Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation, among others. Ruth Pastine lives and works in Southern California.
