The Technological Sublime
Pazo Fine Art is pleased to present The Technological Sublime, an exhibition of works by Beverly Fishman, Rockne Krebs, and Ruth Pastine. These three artists each calibrate finely-tuned qualities of light and space through their unique approaches to the dynamics of media and spectatorship. The exhibition will be accompanied by a 80 page catalogue with essay by independent curator and critic Dan Cameron.
Ruth Pastine: The Inevitability of Truth
Ruth Pastine: The Inevitability of Truth is published on occasion of the artist’s solo exhibition The Inevitability of Truth inaugurating the opening of Edward Cella Art & Architecture’s new gallery space in Los Angeles in September 2015, marking the artist’s 13th solo exhibition in California. The 44-page full-color catalog includes images of the paintings and exhibition installation shots from Pastine’s large-scale square paintings engaging high-key color juxtapositions, heightening the ethereality of emergent light and spatial flux, and introduces the Square Diamond format to the artist’s oeuvre. The catalog features an essay by Sarah P. Hanson, a former editor-in-chief of Art + Auction magazine, who writes on art for a variety of publications. Signed copies are also available.
Ruth Pastine: Attraction
Ruth Pastine Attraction is published on occasion of the artist’s 20-year survey exhibition: Ruth Pastine Attraction 1993-2013 at the Museum of Art and History (MOAH), in Lancaster, California. The 84-page full-color monograph comprehensively documents the work of American artist Ruth Pastine, recognized for her seamlessly luminous oil on canvas paintings, and catalogs the advancement of Pastine’s paintings and pastel works on paper spanning the last two decades. The catalog features essays by Donald Kuspit, renowned art critic, art historian, and professor of philosophy, and Peter Frank, Los Angeles-based art critic and curator, and is accompanied by an appreciation by celebrated Light and Space artist De Wain Valentine.
Ruth Pastine INTERPLAY
Ruth Pastine INTERPLAY is published on occasion of the artist’s 2013 solo exhibition Ruth Pastine: INTERPLAY at Scott White Contemporary Art in San Diego, CA. The 44-page full color catalog includes images of the paintings and exhibition installation shots from her new series of square, vertical, and horizontal paintings distinguished by perceptual banding, heightening the opticality of emergent light and spatial interplay. The catalog features an essay by Peter Frank, Los Angeles-based art critic, curator, and contributing writer for the The Huffington Post, and is accompanied by an introduction by Scott White.
